My paintings reflect the images and colours of my childhood in India and a love of art inherited from my father. The work of the Old Masters Titian, da Vinci, Rembrandt, Rubens and the Impressionists have been and continue to be a great inspiration. Giacometti, Bacon and Uglow are more recent influences. The deconstruction style of 20th century artists such as de Kooning and Severini inspire the way I see and paint today.
In my work, I like to retain an element of the drawing line, 'drawing' with paint. I have become increasingly interested in presenting multiple views or leaving out much of the original view for the viewer to complete or make of it as they wish. I particularly enjoy presenting people, objects and buildings out of their logical existence much as we do in our memories. Recent Exhibitions/Competitions
